Primal Play: a Primal Pilates mat class that uses functional floor movements (rolling, crawling, movements that strengthen your abdominals), balance and proprioceptive practice (knowing where you body is in space), transitional floor movements (getting from a seated to standing position), and spinal and joint mobility (taking the joints through a full range of motion because remember…motion is lotion!).

Mondays 8am PST ($20/class)

Raye is very natural whether in front of a camera or in person. They explain how the movements are beneficial, and offers accommodations as needed. I always feel less tense, more relaxed, and more connected to my body after taking their class.

By the time class is over, I feel like every part of my body has been stretched out and limbered up - so important since I sit for long hours at the computer every day. Raye brings such a positive, relaxed attitude to their teaching that even though my body is stretching and working in ways it is not accustomed to, I always enjoy it. They vary the class content every week, so each week feels different and fresh, even while incorporating elements of what we may have worked on the previous week. They provide modifications if some moves are too hard (or conversely, need to be more challenging) or uncomfortable because of physical limitations. I have an increased body awareness as a result of their class. I am much more mindful about how I am standing, which muscles I am engaging, where my weight is distributed, where I am holding tension, and how I am breathing, and I carry this awareness with me throughout the week.

Raye integrates exercises that work on improving balance and neural function. Although they know an incredible amount about the body’s mechanics and physiology, they are able to distill it to the basics for the students. I find their approach very holistic.

And lastly, their smile and giggle make class an absolute joy. Can’t speak highly enough about their classes!
